Thomas Lasorda was the baseball manager best well known for his leading the LA Dodgers for twenty seasons. Thomas also was a pitcher for the LA Dodgers and has been with the team for over fifty years total. He is one of four managers to remain at the same team for at least twenty years along with Connie Mack, John McGraw and Walter Alston.

BIO: Thomas Lasorda was the baseball manager best well known for his leading the LA Dodgers for twenty seasons. Thomas also was a pitcher for the LA Dodgers and has been with the team for over fifty years total. He is one of four managers to remain at the same team for at least twenty years along with Connie Mack, John McGraw and Walter Alston.

Thomas Lasorda was known for his philosophy of managing after he went by the motto of “Contented Cows Give Better Milk.” As a player and a manager, he worked very hard at keeping the team morale high by telling jokes and giving the players praise for their hard work. He believed that remaining positive with the team would in turn make them want to work harder and this is how he earned the respect of players and the management throughout baseball. Thomas was a great leader in and out of baseball.

Under Thomas, the Dodgers won 1,599 games, 8 National League West titles, 4 National League pennants and 2 World Series championships. In 1997, Thomas was inducted into the Hall of Fame and after given the honor he said, “I got into the Hall of Fame because my players put me there!”

Thomas retired from the game in 1996 but still works as the team’s senior vice president and is available for corporate events, public events and personal appearances.
