BIO: Oscar De La Hoya is a retired Mexican American boxer who is nicknamed The Golden Boy. Oscar comes from a background of boxers—his father Joel Sr and brother Joel Jr were both boxers. Right after graduating high school, he won a gold medal at the Barcelona Olympic Games. He was named The Rings Fighter of the Year in 1995 and Rings Magazine’s top rated ‘Pound for Pound’ fighter in the world two years in a row.

Oscar De La Hoya has had a very successful career with 17 world championships, 10 world titles and has generated more money than any other boxer-$696 million pay-per-view income.

On April 14, 2009 he announced his retirement from boxing at a press conference in Los Angeles. Oscar De La Hoya is creator of Golden Boy Promotions, a combat sport promotional film. He has taken on many promotional responsibilities during his career and is the first American of Hispanic descent to own a national boxing promotional firm.

He is the author of a bestselling children’s book and the designer of an active inspired apparel line in Mervyns department stores. He is available for corporate events, speaking engagements and autograph signings.
