BIO: Nadia Comaneci captured the hearts of millions at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Canada. She was the fourteen year of Romanian gymnast, who became known as simply, “Nadia.” She captured seven perfect tens, three gold medals, one bronze, and one silver. Before returning to Romania, she was featured on TIME, Newsweek and Sports Illustrated, all in the same week.
At the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, Nadia Comaneci won two more gold medals and two silver; which brought her total Olympic medal count to nine—five gold, three silver and one bronze. Nadia was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1996 and in this same year, she married American Olympic Champion Bart Conner in a Romanian state wedding.
Now, Nadia Comaneci spends her time making appearances, doing commercial endorsements for major companies, speaking engagements and charity events. She wrote her first book in 2003, Letters to a Young Gymnast, which tells her inspirational story.
Currently, Nadia and her husband, Bart, own the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy, International Gymnast magazine, Perfect 10 Productions, Inc. (a TV production company) and Grips, Etc., a gymnastics supply company.
Nadia is the Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Special Olympics International, Vice President of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and serves as a member of the board of the Laureus Sports for Good Foundation. Even though Nadia lives in the U.S., she frequently travels to her home of Romania to support charities.
Nadia and her husband have a business partnership with Paul Ziert and Associates with the following businesses: Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy, International Gymnast magazine, Perfect 10 Productions, Inc. (a TV production company) and Grips, Etc., Gym Divas Inc. and The Bart and Nadia Sports and Health Festival. She is available for public appearances, sporting events and fundraisers.
