Considered one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, Muhammad Ali is a former American boxer and three time World Heavyweight Champion. Muhammad was born Cassius Clay, but after joining the Nation of Islam in 1964, he changed his name to Muhammad Ali. Among his nicknames; The Greatest, The Champ, The Louisville Lip, Muhammad had many notable matches including three with Joe Frazier and one with George Foreman. Against George Foreman (The Rumble in the Jungle), Muhammad knocked out George to win his second heavyweight title. Muhammad had only five losses-no draws-and 56 wins. His fighting style was best described by him as, “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,” and his techniques described as the rope-a-dope. Muhammad is also famous for his rhyming trash talking before his matches about his opponents on TV and in person.

Muhammad was named Sportsman of the Century by Sports Illustrated and Sports Personality of the Century by the BBC. After his career ended, he developed Parkinson’s syndrome. He has appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated 37 times and has been the subject of many books. One of his daughters, Laila, was also a professional boxer who had 24 wins, 0 losses, 0 draws.
