Not only would John become an Olympian, at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he captured four Gold Medals, one Silver and broke four World Records in swimming. His records in the 100 and 200 meter backstroke lasted for seven years after his retirement.

Bio: When John Naber was 9 years old, he told his parents he wanted to be an Olympian someday. Not only would John become an Olympian, at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he captured four Gold Medals, one Silver and broke four World Records in swimming. His records in the 100 and 200 meter backstroke lasted for seven years after his retirement. In 1977, he led the University of Southern California their fourth consecutive undefeated season, a national title and won the James E. Sullivan award as the nation’s outstanding amateur athlete.

In 1984, he was honored as the Olympic Flag carrier into the Opening Ceremonies of the Los Angeles Games and was elected into the USOC Hall of Fame. Later, as a sports commentator, John served as play-by-play host for over 30 different Olympic sports. John uses his experience as a legendary Olympic athlete and elite sports announcer in his speaking engagements, thrilling audiences of all kinds.

In a nationwide USA TODAY poll, John was elected as the male captain of the “100 Golden Olympians,” (an all-star collection of America’s greatest Olympic Champions). He is also the President of the US Olympians, the alumni association of America’s athletes. John has also written articles for various publications and even produced his own competitive swimming instructional video program.

As a volunteer, John has assisted the International Special Olympics, Boys and Girls Clubs, national and local YMCA’s and the Women Sports Foundation, and as president of the AAF Rose Bowl Aquatics Center, where he raised over six million dollars to build one of the greatest outdoor competition pools in the country. John is available for speaking engagements, autograph signings and fundraisers.
