BIO: New York Knicks basketball player Carmelo Anthony grew up in Towson, Maryland where he attended Towson Catholic High School in Maryland and Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. In 2003, he led the Syracuse University Orangemen to its first National Championship where he was named MVP of NCAA East Regional. After just one college basketball season, Carmelo left Syracuse to enter the 2003 NBA Draft. He was selected as the third pick by the Nuggets and was recently traded to the Knicks days before the 2011 trade deadline. Carmelo is one of the most well-known players in the NBA since entering the league in 2003. Carmelo has been named to the All Rookie team, the All Star team four times and the All NBA team four times. While Carmelo was with the Nuggets, he led them to two division titles and to the playoffs every year from 2004-2010. He also helped the Nuggets proceed to the Conference Finals for the first time since 1985. He was also a part of the USA National Team, winning a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics and a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics.
In Carmelo’s rookie season he made his debut on October 29, 2003 in a home win against the San Antonio Spurs. He finished his first game with twelve points, seven rebounds and three assists. Six games later, he scored thirty points and became the second youngest player in NBA history to score thirty points or more in a game (Kobe Bryant was the youngest). The next year, Carmelo Anthony became the third youngest player to score his one thousandth point in NBA history. Also in 2004, Carmelo played in the Got Milk? Rookie Challenge. A new Denver Nuggets record was broken by Carmelo for the most points scored in a game by a rookie on March 30, 2004 and was the second youngest NBA player to score forty points in a game. Carmelo won the Rookie of the Month award in the month of April and then became the fourth player in NBA history to receive all six Rookie of the Month awards in a season. He was named, NBA Player of the Week twice and was a NBA All-Rookie First Team selection. During his rookie season, he averaged 21.0 ppg, which was more than any other rookie. Throughout his career with the Denver Nuggets, he continued to shine.
After a prosperous career with the Nuggets, Carmelo was traded to the New York Knicks in 2011. His first game with the Knicks was a six point win over the Milwaukee Bucks and he scored twenty-seven points and had ten rebounds. In his second game with the Knicks, he had a career high of forty two points and seventeen rebounds. Unfortunately, the Knicks ended up losing to the Boston Celtics in 4 games in the first round of the playoffs. Carmelo also has a line of signature line of shoes made by Nike and under the Air Jordan brand. Currently, there are five different AirMelo’s out. The first shoes, Air Jordan Melo 1.5 and Air Jordan Melo 5.5 are not entirely Carmelo’s own design. In 2006, the shoes did so well, that Air Jordan gave Carmelo his very own shoe line, with his own designs. The shoes are called the AirMelo M3, Melo M4 and his next shoe- AIR MELO M5 RAD/SHARK. Carmelo is available for Fundraisers, Golf Outings and Product Launch/Promotions.
