BIO: Former American track and field athlete, Frederick Carlton “Carl” Lewis, won ten Olympic medals including nine gold, and ten World Championship gold medals (eight). Carl’s career spanned from 1979, his first world ranking, to 1996, his last Olympic title and where he retired. From his retirement on, Carl Lewis has appeared in a number of films and has announced he will run as a Democratic candidate for a seat in the New Jersey Senate.

Carl Lewis competed as a sprinter and long jumper, and crowned world rankings in the 100 meter, 200 meter and long jump, was named Athlete of the Year by Track and Field News in 1982, 1983 and 1984, and set world records in the 100 meter, 4×100 meter and 4×200 meter relays. His world record in the indoor long jump is still standing since 1984 and his sixty-five consecutive victories in the long jump was unbeaten for ten years, as one of the sport’s longest undefeated streaks.

Carl’s accolades include, Sportsman of the Century by International Olympic Committee and Olympian of the Century by Sports Illustrated. He is considered the one who transformed track and field from its amateur status to its professional status.

Outside of track and field, Carl Lewis was drafted in the tenth round of the 1984 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls (the same draft as Michael Jordan). He never played a game in the NBA. He also was drafted in the twelfth round of the 1984 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys as a wide receiver, he never signed. Carl was an endorser of McDonalds and is available for public service announcements, public events and satellite media tours.
