After the 1996 Olympics she continued training for the 2000 Olympics, but had constant injuries. She was able to make a comeback and made the US team in the 50 free, 4×100 Medley Relay, 4×100 Freestyle Relay. With her medals won here, her medal count was brought to 6 gold medals after winning both relays.

Amy Van Dyken has accumulated many awards including: ESPN Female Athlete of the Year, Swimming World magazine’s female Swimmer of the Year award, was inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame, Olympic Hall of Fame, AP Female of the Year, USOC Sports Woman of the Year, USA Swimming Swimmer of the Year and the Woman’s Sports Foundation Sports Woman of the Year. Amy has been featured on Glamour magazine, Sports Illustrated, USA Today, Newsweek, Time, Late Night with David Letterman, and the Today show.

Today, Amy Van Dyken is a DJ on a sports radio show in Arizona; KPHX-FM. She has been inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame and is available for speaking engagements, autograph signings and media tours.
